Project Overview

This project will replace all existing Metal Halide lighting at athletic fields with LED lighting. Metal Halide lights will no longer be produced after being phased out by the Department of Energy. The facilities include the Auburn Softball Complex, Margie Piper Bailey Field, the Samford Avenue Tennis Center, the Auburn Wire Road Soccer Complex, the Shug Jordan Soccer fields, Duck Samford baseball fields, the Yarbrough Clay Tennis Courts, and Felton Little Park.

The project has a total capital budget of $4,000,000.00 and is anticipated to finish by Aug 30, 2024.

Floyd Service Company was awarded the contract for the installation of the Musco Sports Lighting System on December 19th 2023. Parks and Recreation is using a phased approach with the goal to complete the project by the end of Summer 2024. Lighting conversion at the Softball Complex, Yarbrough Tennis Center, and Margie Piper Bailey Fields have been completed. Lights are installed at Samford Avenue Pickleball and Tennis Center and awaiting final components for connection to control app. Shug Jordan Soccer Complex conversion is underway with the Wire Road Soccer Complex to begin soon.
